An exquisite monument Qutub Minar, a towering landmark in New Delhi, India, which marked the onset of a new type of rule in India, namely the slave dynasty.
Qutub Minar Height
This monument is 73 meters tall in height and its diameter at the base is 14.3 m which narrows down to 2.7 m at the top. Currently, it is a part of UNESCO which makes it a building of great heritage and historic value.
Who built Qutub Minar
It was commissioned by Qutub-ud-din Aibak in 1193 which still remains the highest tower in India. It is a 5 storied building made of red sandstone till the 3rd floor and the other 2 floors are made up of marble and sandstone. The construction of Qutub Minar although was started by Qutub-ud-din Aibak but he only could finish the basement. Later on, Iltutmish constructed the 3 stories and the rest two were done by Firoz Shah Tuglaq.

Qutub Minar Architecture
This monument is so special because it has survived even after almost a century, standing pretty intact like a mighty mountain. It is beautifully sculpted with Quraan verses on the walls. The area also consists of a mosque and another tower namely Alai Minar which is tilted in one direction. The verses of the holy act as an invitation for people who wanted to pray within the courtyard in the earlier time.
Local Legend
It is a very famous tourist place in India. Local lore runs that, there is an iron pillar and if you encircle it with your arms facing your back, then all your wishes get fulfilled.
It is a UNESCO heritage site and it was inscripted in 1993. It is an alluring example of Indo- Islamic architecture and hence it accounts for so much attention.
