Merry Christmas! The Most Magical Time Of The Year

 The most magical time of the year has finally arrived, Ho Ho Ho! it is Christmas.

Christmas is is celebrated on 25th of December every year which is a religious holiday and a worldwide cultural and commercial phenomena. People around the world have been observing the traditions and practices that are both secular and religious in nature for over 2 million now. Christmas is celebrated by Christians as the birth anniversary of Jesus of Nazareth a spiritual leader whose teachings form the basis of their religion. Exchanging gifts decorating Christmas trees attending Church sharing meals with family and friends and the most awaited time of the year where everyone waits for Santa Claus to arrive. Since 1870 the Christmas day has been a federal holiday in the United States of America.

Christmas Around the World
The middle of the winter has been a long time of celebration around the World centuries before the arrival of Jesus early European celebrated light and birth in the dark history of winter. Many people rejoiced during the winter solstice, according to them this was a celebration of all the the long dark days they have spent in the past and now they could look forward to long days full with sunlight.

In Scandinavia the yule was celebrated by the Norse from December 21 the onset of winter solstice, through January. In recognition of the return of the Sun fathers and sons word bring home large log which was set on fire. In Germany pagan God Oden was honored during the mid winter holiday. The the German locals were terrified of Oden as they believed he made nocturnal flights through the sky to observe his people and then decide who would prosper or Parish. Because of his presence many people choose to stay inside.

Winters were Harsh in North as compared to in Rome. So so the romance celebrated a holiday in honor of of Saturn who was believed as the god of agriculture. The holiday was name named after the God itself Saturnalia. This was the time when food and drink were plenty food and the normal Roman social order was turned upside down. At this time of the month peasants were in the commander of the city. Business and schools were closed so that everyone could join the fun. 


Decorations

The mistletoe is commonly used as a Christmas decoration. The druids of Gaul regarded mistletoe growing on oak trees as sent from heaven. Other common decorations associated with Christmas are holy and ivy both are associated with pagan festival as it was customary to decorate with greenery for this festival.

in modern times it is a special time in children get presents from family friends and Santa Claus. Christmas cards are also given or sent out prior to Christmas day. For some Christmas as an exclusive family affair while other invite friends to a Christmas buffet or potluck me churches have special services and may include miniature nativity scene or a crèche.
