Chattarpur Temple Delhi - History, Location, timings

Chattarpur Temple also known as Adhya Katyaini Temple is situated in Chattarpur area of New Delhi.

The entire complex of the temple is spread over a wide area of 70 acres. The temple was established in 1974 by Baba Nagpal ji who died in 1998. His samadhi shrine lies in the premises of the Shiv Gauri Nageshwar mandir within the temple complex. 

This temple was considered as the biggest temple in India and second largest in the world before the Akshardham temple was built in Delhi in the year 2005. this temple was entirely constructed from the marble and on all the facets there is stone and latticed screen work. The architecture style is known as vesara style of architecture.  

The temple area has over 20 small and large temples divided in three part of the complex. The main temple contains the shrine of goddess Katyayani also known as Durga in the Hindu mythology which only opens during the Navratri season which is twice in a year. This is the time when thousands of people come and pay there visits to to the goddess for Darshan. One room has been made as a living room with tables and chairs made and the silver metal and other regarded as bedroom Shankar of the goddess where there is a bed a dressing table and a table carved in the silver metal. just at the entrance of the main temper stand and old Shiva devotees by holy threats for their wishes to be fulfilled. And others shrine the goddess Durga is open to devotees morning to evening and it lies above the shrines dedicated to Radha Krishna and lord Ganesha. Apart from this there are other temples dedicated to lord Rama lord shiva and lord Ganesha temples have when bent in both south and north Indian style of architecture.
